    Meridian, Idaho

Meridian is the second-largest city in Ada County and the third-largest in the State of Idaho. Meridian's estimated population is over 60,000. Having recently surpassed the eastern Idaho cities of Pocatello and Idaho Falls, the 2007 U.S. Census estimates placed Meridian as the third-largest city in Idaho behind Boise and Nampa, all in the Treasure Valley. Meridian is also the state's fastest-growing city, with a 81.5 percent increase in population between 2000 and 2010.

The majority of Meridian lies in farmland in the north central part of the Treasure Valley. There is a low bench along the south east edge of the city above Overland Road and Interstate 84. The city is crossed by several irrigation canals that generally run from the south east to the north west. The Boise River runs well north of the city near Eagle. The Snake River is located to the south of the city. Squaw Butte is visible to the north at as is Shafer Butte and, at night, the lights at the Bogus Basin Ski Area. The Owyhee Mountains are visible to the south. Meridian shares boundaries with the two largest cities in Idaho - Boise to the east and Nampa to the west.

Residents of Meridian often take advantage of the cultural, recreation and sports opportunities throughout the Valley.
Meridian is quickly developing its own cultural heritage and recreation opportunities. The Meridian Symphony Orchestra celebrated its 20th Anniversary season in 2010. Art is on display in the Initial Point Gallery on the third floor of the Meridian City Hall year around. The gallery is open to the public, free admission. Roaring Springs water park and Wahooz family entertainment complex are open year around. The city's Parks and Rec department manages 17 public parks throughout meridian including Meridian Settlers Regional Park which hosts free outdoor movies during the summer months. The Meridian Speedway is near downtown south of Old Town Meridian.
